Weekly Bible Verse Meditation 12/16/12

It's been a good while. I just hadn't had any real connection with things I had been reading.  I guess I was kind of failing because I wasn't doing what I said I was going to but   it is just hard for me to pick a random verse. I have to feel it is speaking to me. This week I   finally got one!!  Are you ready????.....You sure?????..... Okay here it is!!!!....

Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good spirit lead me on level ground. Psalm 143:10

Do you feel the depth of this verse???? TEACH ME to do Your WILL! for YOU are MY God; (not the rest of the world.. Have No Other God's Before Me.. You are first always… sound right?) I know we always say we want to do God's will. The question today is "How do we do God's will?" We do pray for God's will to BE done and not ours... but do we ever say "Lord how am I to do your will... how am I to put myself aside and learn what your will is." Life is changing every day. I stay at home and I'm so busy just taking care of my family and my house I feel like I never have time to do much of anything else. I would like to do some hobbies.. start a business... help those in need more often.. but I just run out of time.

May your GOOD Spirit lead me on LEVEL GROUND... Since we so often are walking up and down mountains! How can we learn to be the new creation we have been made (2 Cor. 5:17).. How can we change how we live.. is it just watching the way we act, fighting the bad habits we have created, or is it more.. We need to go deeper... We are no longer part of this world.. we are new beings.. spirits... It's a lot to understand.. and I've never been one   to try to understand how things work.. I usually just read it, accept it, don't think about it being any more than what it says but that's not really going to help me learn anything. So I need to find a way to put all of this aside.. the whole enchilada.. and spend some MAJOR time with the spirit so that I can get on level ground and begin learning HOW TO DO God's good, pleasing perfect will. (Romans 12:2)

Weekly Bible Verse Meditation 3-10-12

Having an answer for questions people ask me is something I struggle with. This week i choose 1 Peter 3:15 to meditate on. I will be praying for words this week. Praying God gives me the right words for each person that I speak with!

“But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,” 1 Peter 3:15 NIV

Frenemies

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous." Matthew 5:43-45

As I was washing dishes the other day God laid this verse on my heart. I feel that somewhere down the line this verse has been adapted into this saying..

"Keep your friends close and your enemies closer."

Everyone says this at one point or another BUT when we're saying it, what do we mean by it? Are we trying to keep the people who we feel are trying to hurt us close so that we can keep an eye on them and the things they do? Are we trying to make sure they aren't doing anything that can be used against us? Are we looking for something to hold against them in case they do hurt us?

Do you think this is what the saying really means orrrrrrrr do you think that it just might have something to do with Matthew 5:43-45? To LOVE your enemies! Did i really just say that?!?! LOVE people who are trying to bring you down?
LOVE people who are trying to bring you down.
I think it's starting to sink in now.
Love them!!
Be an example to them. Show them the unconditional love that God shows us! Last but not least PRAY for them. Pray for the unknown troubles of their lives, for their eyes to be opened to the hurt they are causing, to be open to the example you are setting to them, for the love God has to give them!

Just something to ponder on :)

Weekly Bible Verse Meditation 3-1-12

So I did okay with my bible verse last week. I have the verse memorized. I got out a dictionary, defined all the words, wrote it out and read it like that. I prayed about it. I didn't give myself enough quiet time and I need to work on that.I continually prayed for my mind to be renewed. This weeks verse is:

"Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread." Proverbs 30:8

We have a messed up way of thinking that we need to have the best of the best... when having all of that is in vain. We need to find contentment in what we NEED not what we WANT. We need to realize God will provide all of our needs, and we need to work on not being envious of what others have.

Weekly Bible Verse Meditation

I have been trying to make a decision about my son's schooling lately -christian school (expensive) -homeschool (am I even capable of doing this) -public school (barely even a choice for me but not ruling out just in case God has something planned). Today I was sitting on the internet looking at a blog and stopped for a minute to ask God for help in making this decision. I switched the tab to facebook and my newsfeed had this verse:

"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." - Romans 12:2 (NIV)

As I read it, I started to form a question in my mind "Is this meant for me specifically?". I reposted the verse as my status, read it again, prayed a minute, thought about it for a couple of seconds and went on with my day. The next time I check my newsfeed i see a link: "How to meditate on God's Word"

There are many ways to meditate on God’s Word. Some possibilities include:
  1. Take time to read a verse or passage over and over.
  2. Begin to memorize all or part of it.
  3. Listen—quiet your heart to allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you through God’s Word.
  4. Consider how it fits with the rest of the Bible and life in general.
  5. Become emotionally involved—allow yourself to feel what God feels, his desires expressed through his words.
  6. Move from meditation to application—connect your thoughts to action. Consider how the truth and power of the Word of God should affect your behavior.

Which led me back to the verse so I put 2 and 2 together. So every time I look at my facebook profile I will read the verse. I will write it down on paper over and over while I'm watching Spongebob Squarepants. I may cut some of those out and tape them in random places around the house where I will see them so that the verse is always on my mind. I don't know when God started using facebook but I'm glad he's my friend!
